Placement testing is required to help students figure out where they are at academically, so they can be placed in courses that match their skill level. It's all about setting students up for success and making sure they have the support needed before starting at 海角黑料.
These, and others, are accepted for course placement:
- High school GPA/course grades
- Previous college courses
- GED content scores
- ACT/SAT scores
- ACCUPLACER™ scores
- ALEKS Scores
- DANTES scores
The 海角黑料 Board of Trustees adopted mandatory evaluation and placement on June 12, 2001.
New Students
High school students who have taken the ACT or SAT may be able to use their scores to determine courses based on the placement outcomes.
First-time college students should schedule to take the ACCUPLACER and/or ALEKS tests. The assessment includes reading, writing skills and mathematics. Students must complete the placement evaluation before meeting with a Student Success Advisor to enroll.
Students whose native language is not English should contact the English for Speakers of
Other Languages (ESOL) office at 913-288-7380, or the Arts, Humanities and Social Science division at 913-288-7299 before scheduling the placement testing.
Some students may be required to complete an ESOL placement testing based on the TESOL score.
Transfer Students
Students with college-level English and/or math courses, or with prior ACCUPLACER scores may not be required to take additional placement testing. Students may be able to use their previous grades/scores to determine courses based on the placement outcomes.
